Walnut Street Theatre is America’s oldest theatre and the most popular theatre company in Philadelphia. In 2019 the theatre introduced an expansion plan that includes a fully renovated lobby and box office, a new education space, two state of the art rehearsal halls, and a 400-seat immersive theatre in the round. This expansion will provide an enhanced customer experience and an increased dedication to education. Walnut Street Theatre will both strengthen its commitment as an incubator for theatre arts in Philadelphia while also preserving its history and legacy.

The architect for this project is JKRP, and the theatre designer is Theatre Projects. The new theatre covers 40,000 square feet and the project budget is $36,000,000.
